Homemade Dark Chocolate

This recipe for a homemade dark chocolate is great for topping deserts. It is something in between an icing and a syrup and it doesn’t set completely – a feature I love! The best thing about it is that it uses only 3 ingredients (not counting the water) and it takes about 2-3 minutes to prepare.

Enjoy it with my favourite homemade, egg and dairy-free Single Layer Chocolate Cake.

Homemade Dark Chocolate Dessert Topping

Course Dessert

Ingredients
  

  • 70 g high quality butter
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

Instructions
 

  • Start by gently melting the butter in a small pan, over a low heat. Do not allow it to boil.
  • Add the remaining ingredients, while gently stirring. Once combined, begin to stir vigorously, until the mixture begins to thicken (around 1-2 minutes).
  • Pour over your favourite desert to make it irresistibly chocolatey.

Notes

It can be served warm or at room temperature, however for best results the rule is that if the chocolate is warm, the desert you are topping up should be at room temperature and vise versa.
